MARCH Boxing Club’s dinner show proved a great success in and out of the ring at the BRAZA Club on Friday night.

The club had three winners on the night and the show attracted a full house.

The big crowd was entertained in the bout of the night when March’s Charlie Stevens beat Jordan Laming of Willenhall ABC in a 61kg contest.

The 16-year-old Stevens caught Jordan with some solid punches throwing straight rights and upper cuts. Laming stuck to his task and had a very good chin.

Stevens ended up with a blooded nose and lip but still won easily on points.

Younger brother Cole Stevens was also a winner on the night when he beat Kevin Rourke of Bletchley in a 39.5kg bout.

The 12-year-old boxed well in a very even contest which could have gone wither way but Cole took it with a majority points win.

A third win for the March club came from 14-year-old Conor Crosby who got a majority points verdict against Nick Tipler from Chalverdon ABC in a 42kg fight.

This was another hard fought contest and very close bout.

Danny Hedges was unable to make it a clean sweep for the home boxers when he was outpointed by Jack Hall from Haddenham ABC in a 47kg contest.

The 15-year-old made hard work of this bout. Instead of sticking to his boxing he got into a fight while Hall stuck to his boxing and won comfortably on points in another very good bout.

Chatteris Boxing Club’s Jordan Tilsley was involved in a very close contest against Joe Burgess from Geddington losing out on points although many thought he had done enough to win.

March Boxing Club’s Bernie Wing commented: “It was a very successful night with a full house to watch the 12 bouts.

“It was disappointing that Vicky Larham’s opponent pulled out at the last minute and left her without a fight as she had trained really hard for her first ever bout. Hopefully another one can be arranged soon and she may even fight at Harwich on Saturday.

“There was some very good bouts on the night and the highlight was Charlie Stevens who produced some good punching and and good boxing to win but credit to his opponent who stayed with him.”

The club will hold their next fight night on April 8.
