Twin town visit

Arles meeting
Arles meeting

Next year marks the 50th anniversary of Wisbech’s twinning with the French town of Arles and plans are afoot to celebrate this milestone,

On a private visit to Arles, Cllr David Hodgson and his wife Judy met the Arles Twinning President Jean-Claud Marchesseau and Florence Rivas, who runs twinning for the Arles Council.

A meeting was held to discuss the anniversary. Wisbech was the second town to twin with Arles, which is now twinned with nine towns worldwide.

For 2014 it is planned that Arles will send a rugby team to compete against Wisbech Grammar School and a photographer/artist is to attend Wisbech Arts Festival.

David and Judy toured the town and the Carmargue area with friends John and Trish Wilcox and all are keen to help revive Wisbech Twinning Club.

If you would like to join the Wisbech/Arles Twinning Club or be involved with the anniversary events, contact Cllr Hodgson at: or via Wisbech Town Council.
