The Wimblington bypass was closed this morning (Thursday) after a two-car smash at 7am.
An Audi and a Subaru collided on the A141 between March and Chatteris, resulting in one car ending up in a ditch and the other being left damaged on the road.
One man had to be freed by the fire service, using specialist cutting equipment, and was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
The other driver did not suffer serious injuries.
The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident but is now open again. However, drivers are still advised to avoid the area while the backlog of traffic eases.
Anyone with information on the collision is asked to call police on 101.
