A U-turn has been made on the rebranding of Fenland’s leisure centres.
Cllr Pop Jolley, who was responsible for the names changes of the Wisbech, March and Whittlesey leisure centres, apologised for the upset at Thursday’s council meeting.
There was public outcry after the Hudson and George Campbell Leisure Centres were rebranded to New Vision. Fenland District Council said they would erect plaques outside and put up boards inside explaining the historical connections to George Campbell and Alan Hudson.
But this was not satisfactory for many people and the council have now agreed to restore the original names outside the leisure centres.
The New Vision branding, on which the council spent £50,000 across the four market towns, will still be retained for the facilities but the centres will be known by their historical names.
