UPDATE: A47 reopens between Eye and Thorney after farm house is gutted by fire

The A47 between Eye and Thorney has reopened this morning, Tuesday February 9, after a huge fire ripped through a farm house.

Police and 30 firefighters were at the scene on The Causeway near Thorney until the early hours of this morning following the blaze, which began at around 6pm.

PC Steve Gedney said road blocks remained in place until the small hours of the morning to allow emergency services to continue working.

The carriageway was closed between Eye and the B1167 New Cut/Wisbech Road at Thorney for several hours.
