UPDATE: Man in critical condition after car crash and fire on A47




A man is in a critical condition after a serious crash and car fire on the A47 between Eye and Thorney this morning, Monday August 8.

All emergency services attended the scene and described it as a “major incident”.

Police were called at 5.23am today to reports of a collision on the A47 between Thorney and Eye.

When officers attended the scene a single vehicle had left the road and was on its roof in a field. There are also reports that is was on fire.

The Ambulance Service and Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene. A man has been taken to hospital with serious, potentially life threatening, injuries.

The road was closed between Eye and Thorney as a result of the incident but reopened at 9.45am.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
