Wisbech van thief arrested after crashing into church

Police have arrested a van thief after he crashed the vehicle into a church.

The van was stolen while it was parked in between the NatWest bank and St Peter’s church on the pedestrian footpath in Wisbech town centre on Tuesday.

The offender was detained after the crash and officers, East of England Ambulance Service and MAGPAS attended the scene.

The offender has been arrested for suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and being unfit through drink or drugs.

Enquiries are ongoing into this matter.
