Views sought on security at controversial playground

VIEWS are being sought on how best to improve security at the Waterlees adventure playground in Wisbech.

Cambs County Council is looking at a number of possible options but would like to collect feedback before making a final decision.

A public meeting has been organised for August 24 between 10am and noon at the Oasis Centre in St Michael’s Avenue.

Residents’ views will be considered alongside feedback from other people with an interest in the playground and will be part of the final decision about the security arrangements for the site.

The list of key criteria includes:

• The safety of children and young people using the site.

• The aims of the adventure playground to create new, natural and inspiring free play opportunities for children and young people.

• The effect on the local community, especially immediate neighbours of the site.

• The costs of installing security measures and the long-term financial sustainability of the playground.

Anyone unable to attend the meeting but who would like to ensure their views are registered, should contact: James Wilson at
