The assembly, led by headteacher Nicky Froggatt, saw Martin Lawrence, Metalcraft's commercial director, handover the money.
Pupils have been fundraising to improve its library as part of their work on developing vocabulary. The school wants to extend the variety of books on offer to encourage reluctant readers to develop and interest in reading.
Mr Lawrence said: "The Metalcraft Community Fund was set up to support projects such as this therefore we are delighted to have been able to provide some funding. Given that more than half of our employees are from our local area it’s vital we invest in our potential employees of the future."
Other businesses have supported the project including City 1st Truck Tyre, Fengrain, FJS Services, Red Skips, Hanson, Fowler and Cook.

The governing body would love to hear from any other company that would like to donate to the school's book appeal. Contact the school office on 01354 680293.
