Volunteering: You can help to make a difference

The Wisbech-based Volunteer Centre Fenland is looking for help for a range of local organisations this month from activities at a museum to puppy walking.

A front-of-house volunteer is needed at a local museum and an education volunteer assistant is needed to help with museum activities.

Puppy walkers for guide dogs are needed but this volunteering post calls for commitment and

restrictions apply as the puppy lives with the family for 12 to 15 months.

Volunteers are needed to help the elderly with shopping and a range of duties at a Chatteris housing scheme. There is also an opportunity for a collection box co-ordinator for Fenland on behalf of an organisation.

Car drivers for all areas are needed and many organisations require Trustees if you have time to spare.

As well as calling for volunteers, the centre can help organisations looking for extra help - even for a one-off event. If you belong to an organisation which is looking for volunteers, the centre can advertise opportunities via the website www.do-it.org.uk

• Rebecca holds regular drop-in sessions at Wetherspoons and March library and can be contacted via email: project@fenlandvc.org.uk if you would like to volunteer or if you are an organisation which has a new opportunity.

Jayde is also at March and is the Timebank Co-ordinator. To find out more about how the time bank operates and how you can share your skills email Jayde on: jthompson-watkinson@fenland.gov.uk

Contact the centre, which is based at the Rosmini Centre, on 01945-582192 on a Monday, Tuesday and

Thursday from 9am to 2.30pm or email: office@fenlandvc.org.uk for more details about these and other volunteering opportunities in Fenland.

The centre has a drop-in on a Monday and a Tuesday from 11am to noon, call for an appointment.
