Walpole preschool’s delight at Ofsted rating
A pre-school has been given the thumbs-up by education inspectors after being rated as ‘good’ in all areas.
Walpole Area Pre-School Ltd, based at the Community Centre in Walpole St Andrew, was visited by Ofsted last month.
The ‘good’ rating is a step-up from its last inspection three years ago, when it was judged to be ‘satisfactory’.
In a report, the effectiveness of leadership and management, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, children’s personal development, behaviour and welfare, and outcomes for children, were all praised as ‘good’.
Inspector Emily Sturgis said: “Children are confident, happy and motivated to join in. They are curious about their environment and enjoy the time they spend at the setting.”
She added: “Staff are committed to ongoing improvements and the manager is very reflective about the provision.”
She also said children make good progress during their time at the pre-school, and in some cases they make “rapid progress” in their learning.
Pre-school owner and manager Maggie Plume was delighted with the report which she felt “reflected the hard work and dedication the long-standing staff team have always shown at the pre-school”. She said: “We work very hard to foster good relationships with all our families .
“We work with them to ensure that all children are given the opportunity to meet their full potential ready for their next stage in life.”
To further improve, the pre-school should ensure all staff place a high value on children’s level of engagement in their activities and that activities inspire children to express their own creativity and ideas.
