Residents in the Walpoles have been reassured there is provision for them to get to Wisbech after a Norfolk Green bus service was cancelled.
Pensioner June Radford (80) contacted the Citizen after a cut in services left Walpole St Andrew without a bus route into Wisbech.
Richard Pengelly from Norfolk Green confirmed that the Number 55 service was cancelled and said: “We were forced to give up the service because of continuing cuts in the area imposed by Norfolk County Council.”
Wisbech company Fenland Cabs took over the Walpole area at the start of May, offering a pre-book service Monday to Saturday.
Fenland Cabs owner Andrew Martin said they offer a similar service to the bus, leaving the Walpoles around 10.15am and returning from the Horsefair at 1pm.
The service costs £2 per person each way and each journey needs to be pre-booked. Contact Fenland Cabs on 01945-474554 .
