Warning after charity goods theft

SUPPORTERS of a Chatteris charity are being warned not to leave donated items outside the High Street stop following a series of thefts.

Staff at the Salvation Army shop have been left dismayed after goods left by kind-hearted supporters for sale in the shop have been stolen over the weekend.

Shop volunteer Ann Matthews said a number of bags of items including children’s toys had been left outside the shop when it was closed and have then been stolen.

“We would ask people not to leave donations of goods outside the shop when it is closed. We know things have gone missing and been stolen and at this time of the year we need as much stock as we can get.

“We are always grateful for donations of goods to sell and if anyone has items they would like to give but are unable to bring it in during opening hours should contact the Salvation Army hall to arrange to drop it off,” said Ann.

Notices have been put up in the shop windows asking people not to leave items outside. The number to call to arrange a drop-off is 01354-695555.
