Councillor Anne Hay, chair of Chatteris Town Council, warned people to think about what they post on social media.
Councillor Anne Hay, chair of Chatteris Town Council, warned people to think about what they post on social media.

He said: “These people have been in the area more than 30 years but are being hounded for being immigrants. I ask don’t do it. Fenland welcomes everybody and if this doesn’t stop it is going to get out of hand.”

His thoughts were echoed by Chatteris chair Anne Hay, who said: “Any working people, irrespective of where they come from are welcome here.”

She reminded councillors of the Council Code of Conduct and urged members to be “careful what you put out on social media, re-read what you have written before you put it on Facebook”.
