Water firm offers reassurances to Fenland villagers following social media rumours over water safety

A water firm has issued strong reassurances to residents in two Fenland villages after rumours on social media of “high levels” of lead in the tap water.

A post on Wisbech Discussion Forum on Facebook claimed there were issues with the water suggesting there were high levels of lead in it and warning people not to drink it.

Anglian Water was swift to issue a response, emphasising there are no restrictions or concerns in the Wisbech/Upwell/Outwell areas after being contacted by the Citizen to check the claims being made.
