A stunning display which encapsulates 50 years of Wisbech’s historic Rose Fair celebrations was chosen by judges as the winner of this year’s Best Dressed Rose Fair Window.
The Chamber of Commerce shield was presented to Wisbech Salvation Army charity shop in Union Street by Mayor Sam Hoy on Wednesday.
The judges were impressed with the detail in the windows which reflected the Wonder of St Peter’s Church and the Rose Queen competition.
The idea came from shop manageress Sandra Stevenson with help to make it work from volunteers Lorna Turton, Pauline Burns and Mark Davies.
The judges also singled out new shop the Cat’s Pyjamas as highly commended.
Cllr Hoy said it was nice to see new shops such as the Cat’s Pyjamas and Beales enter and she praised everyone who had taken part saying they should all be “really proud of themselves”.
Also judging the windows were Barbara Oliver representing Wisbech Chamber of Commerce and Sharon Mace (a new Chamber vice-president), Town Beadle Alister Hopkin, Mayor’s consort James Barker and the Citizen’s Sue Irving.
