Wisbech artist Lino Micallef is showing his first solo exhibition at the Angles Theatre, Wisbech.
Lino (68) is exhibiting a range of paintings in watercolour and ink until the end of May. His paintings cover a range of subjects, including Wisbech landmarks, Fen landscapes and paintings from his travels around the world. There are also some more humorous paintings, with a cartoon feel.
Maltese-born Lino, who is a member of Wisbech art club, has always enjoyed drawing and painting and comes from an artistic family; his uncles were “quite famous artists in their time”.
But his interests changed as he got older and he stopped creating artwork for many years. Lino came to England at the age of 18 and then spent more than two decades in the Royal Navy. He then worked in London for many years before taking early retirement.
Lino and his wife went back to Malta for five years but could not settle and moved to Wisbech, where they have lived since. And Lino has been enjoying his rekindled interest in art.
• Lino’s art exhibition can be seen at the Angles Theatre, Alexandra Road, Wisbech, during theatre opening times – Monday to Friday 2pm to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm and during the evening when there is a show on.
