Fenland youngsters were given ideas for the future during a convention last week.

Wisbech Schools Partnership organised a careers convention for Year 6 pupils. Thomas Clarkson Academy hosted the event, which was attended by 420 pupils from primary schools in Wisbech and the surrounding area. Up to 18 companies and organisations went along on the day to answer youngsters’ questions. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue, Delamore Nurseries, Fosters Property Maintenance, the Royal Navy , The College of West Anglian and Metcalfe, Copeman and Pettefar Solicitors were among the potential employers taking part in the event. Children also completed a number of activities on the day including dressing up and quizzes. Partnership co-ordinator Annette Williams said: “The children arrived excited and left excited. “The feedback we had from the employers was really positive.” Excited youngsters are pictured at the convention mfcp16af03079
