Youngsters were given a behind the scenes tour of the Tesco store in Wisbech.
Wisbech childminders were able to take 29 children to the store thanks to Community Champion Heidi Mote. The children were able to taste some of the fruits and cheeses along with touring the bakery, cheese deli and fish stall and warehouse areas. The children were able to make some creative bread using dough from the bakery. Connor Loughlin, aged 10, said “It was nice to see what happens at the back of Tesco, the freezers were so big and really cold”. At the end of the day the children were presented with certificates and goodie bags including recipes and stickers. Childminder Saffron Booth said “It was important for us to show the children where food comes from as part of our topic on Healthy Eating and Tesco’s Farm to Fork programme was able to help us achieve this”. Parents are advised that Wisbech Childminders are able to offer free childcare places and anyone who is interested should contact Saffron on 07584571029.
