LEARN MORETwo charities are in the money thanks to a Wisbech-based company's generous donations.
Anglia Components, the electronic components distributor in Sandall Road, has handed over £5,000 cheques to two good causes including one chosen in memory of a work colleague.
The Christie Charitable Fund, a national charity which provides enhanced services for cancer patients, was chosen for the support given to Pete Bailey, who died earlier this year.
The other charity was Blue Smile, a county-based chairty which supports the mental well-being of school children in Cambridgeshire through the provision of art-based therapy.
Steve Rawlins, CEO, said: “We are proud to give back to the local Wisbech community, especially as so many of our employees are from the area.
“This year’s donation has a particular poignancy due to its close connection with one of our own, and we are pleased to honour Pete’s memory with our chosen national charity.
Mr Rawlins added the firm has a history of fundraising activity, and said: “Each year, the company requests nominations from its employees for the selection of two annual charities – one local and one national.
“Although Anglia were unable to fund-raise internally this year due to the pandemic, the donations made by the company represent its commitment to continuing its annual charity support.”
Nominations for this year's chosen two good causes are currently open for staff to make their suggestions.
Anglia is currently taking nominations amongst its staff to choose the two charities for 2022.
