Wisbech Grammar School netball girls reach for top tally

High-scoring netball players at Wisbech Grammar School have notched up a top tally of results in a formidable first half to the season.

The under 12 side, which has been playing with speed and skill, remains unbeaten after winning 13-12 against King’s Ely and 16-1 against Stephen Perse Foundation, as well as achieving a determined 9-9 opening draw against Bedford Modern School.

Coach Mrs Jane Reavell said: “The girls have a good understanding following their time at Magdalene House Preparatory School and practise hard to develop their skills further.”

At under 13 level the players have settled into their season, recording a 19-3 win against Beeston Hall School after making a strong start and playing fast paced netball throughout.

In a match against the Stephen Perse Foundation the team fought back after trailing by one or two goals for the first half of the game. At the three quarter stage the score was level at 11-11 and the girls went on to clinch a 15-12 victory.

Coach Miss Deborah Cook said: “The girls are playing some fantastic netball. They are playing excellently, working for each other, keeping possession and fighting tirelessly throughout.

“They are committed to training sessions and work hard in lessons, and they should be proud of their performance.”

Director of sport Mr Phillip Webb said: “The U13 and U12 netball teams have worked very hard under the stewardship of their coaches, Miss Cook, Mrs Reavell and Mrs Amelia Ogston, to develop their skills and patterns of play. Their recent success on the court is a testament to the hard work they have put in.”
