Wisbech will host its first ever St George’s Festival on Saturday, April 26.
The day promises to be a family event, with stalls and competitions for all ages. It will be running in Wisbech Market Place between 10am and 2pm.
The festival was the idea of town resident David Gutteridge who was disappointed by the town’s lack of celebration for our country’s patron saint. March has a thriving St George’s Day celebration and he felt Wisbech should do more to mark the occasion.
David said: “All we get are a few flags. I have been told by people they would like to see something more.”
So a group of organisers on the Wisbech Town Council Festival Committee, including David, have planned a celebration they hope will get the people of Wisbech excited about St George’s Day.
