Wisbech Town CC head into next Saturday with a Cambs Tucker League top-of-the-table clash at Ramsey.
Wisbech are just two points behind Ramsey in Division One and a point ahead of third-placed Godmanchester.
Wisbech triumped over Waresley at Harecroft Road by 149 runs last weekend.
Antipodean Tom Meyrick smashed 86 from just 44 balls in Wisbech’s 247-8 at number eight. The overseas player hit seven sixes and six fours while Sam Rippington contributed 34 not out from 27 balls.
The Waresley innings crumbled for 98. Silus Mutubaki (3-18) returned the best Wisbech bowling figures, while Paul Edgeller, Craig Johnson and Rippington added two wickets each.
March lost a crucial game against basement boys Warboys by 13 runs.
The visitors, without a win all season, just had more firepower on a seamer’s track at The Avenue – taking early and late wickets when it counted for a bumper 25-point tally.
Ben Pyle’s 49 runs was the highpoint of the March total of 150. Andy Wright had earlier enhanced his reputation with 3-34 during the Warboys innings of 163-9.
The 2nd XI lost at Great Shelford in CCA Senior League Division 1 by a 202-run margin, 232 of those runs coming in the last 21 overs!
Stuart Arnold took 1-33 off his 12 overs and Adrian Bussey 2-49, with the home side 81-4. Then all hell broke loose against the slow bowlers and some of the youngsters, as Great Shelford posted 313-7.
John Gilson made a defiant 42 not out, with James Hilliard 29 on his return in the 111 all out total.
The 3rds produced a spirited performance at home to Pymoor, losing by just 20 runs in their CCA Junior League Division 3N match at Doddington.
The visitors made 198-7, with Steven Coe returning figures of 4-43. In reply Jamie Stimpson hit 47, with Coe 28 and Rob Conyard 20, as March were dismissed for 178.
The 4ths made it a blank day for the club when they lost at the Neale-Wade by 118 runs to Cambridge St Giles 3rd in CCA Junior League Division 5N.
The visitors were 207-5 at tea with Sam Mason taking 2-11 and Charlie Conyard 2-18. Will Curtis top-scored in the 89 all out reply.
Ash Vodnala inspired the Sunday 1st XI to only their second Rutland League Division 2 win of the season, when they beat Whittlesey by 28 runs.
The Kiwi cracked 52 runs in the March total of 191-7 and then took 5-35 with his off-spin as the hosts were dismissed for 163. Skipper Toby Nulty also hit 52 and took 2-41.
