The Horsefair Shopping Centre in Wisbech has recently been raising money for local charities.

Not only did shoppers at the centre help to raise over £260 for Scotty’s Little Soldiers earlier in May, but a car boot sale held on bank holiday Monday raised £361.09 for the Wisbech Lions Club.

The shopping centre has further helped the charity in the last year through its textile recycling bank. Since July 2013 shoppers have been able to drop off unwanted clothing items so that when the bank gets full, a percentage of the proceeds are donated to the Lions. To date the charity has received almost one hundred pounds from the textile recycling point.

Centre manager at the Horsefair Kevin Smith commented: “The textile bank is a brilliant way of raising money from things that might usually be thrown away. I’m so pleased that we’ve been able to donate so much money to the Wisbech Lions Club recently; they do so much to help out in the local community so it’s great to be able to support them.”

Vice President Lion, Ray Hill, said: “All of the funds raised go towards local deserving causes and community projects. Thanks to the team at the Horsefair for the ongoing help.”

The Horsefair textile recycling bank is located next to Superdrug and shoppers can drop off their items at any time of day.
