A Wisbech electrical store manager will be getting in the saddle to complete a fundraising bike ride.

David Youngs has been set the challenge of visiting 35 Hughes Electrical stores in Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex in June.

Mr Youngs and three other colleagues are hoping to raise more than £5,000 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance during the five-day event.

The challenge will start at the Spalding store at 8.30am on June 6 and is due to finish on June 10 in King’s Lynn.

Mr Youngs said: “After last year running the Lynn GEAR for Billy Lee and arranging a football match in memory of a former work colleague to support Marie Curie Cancer Care this year, I needed another challenge.

“After discussing with Nigel at our Hunstanton store we came up with the idea of visiting all of the shops in East Anglia.

“As our journey will be covering five counties we thought the East Anglian Air Ambulance would be a worthy charity to support.

“While we set a £5000 target we hope to raise more and are looking to businesses and individuals across the region to sponsor our journey. I would like to thank C Carter’s Estate Agents, Bedtime Centre, Grandline Plastering, APY Fabrications, Worzals and Charmed Interiors of Downham Market and Spalding, who have supported us.”

Anyone wishing to support the team should call into the shop in the Market Place or visit www.justgiving.com/Hughes-Electrical
