A Fenland special school was proud to celebrate the achievements of its leavers when a prom was held at Wisbech’s Elme Hall Hotel.

Students from the town’s Meadowgate School got into the party spirit at the event.

They left the school in a limousine for a ride around Wisbech, before arriving at the hotel for a welcome by families and staff.

Five of this year’s leavers successfully attained the IMI Award Introduction to Vehicle Technology at Entry Level 3 and have secured places at the College of West Anglia to continue their studies in car mechanics.

School spokesman Emma Bird said: “We introduced motor vehicle studies this year as the first of our vocational courses and the students have really benefitted from a more practically based curriculum, as shown by their progression onto college.

“In September, we shall offer two further vocational courses, in horticulture and catering.” Photo: SUPPLIED
