Youngsters from Wisbech were given the opportunity to take part in the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance.
Three cadets from the Wisbech unit of the Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets (GVCAC) were given the chance to represent the group at the event in the Royal Albert Hall.
As they approached the Royal Albert Hall it was “apparent how much dedication and organisation had gone into the Festival” and it was “a great honour and amazing opportunity” to be part of it.
A spokesman said: “We had to work during the day with members of other cadet forces from other parts of the country, selling programmes and directing the public to the correct areas.
“We meet a whole array of people from both military and non military backgrounds alike, and some veterans told us stories which were “very informative” and we were proud to have people from the Armed Forces and some not ask about us and our organisation.
“We were given the chance to watch the afternoon’s performance which was an eye opener with an array of fantastic displays and stories of soldiers from the wars which brought the memory of the fallen to life,
“We again helped at the evening performance and managed to catch a glimpse of the Queen arriving”, but it was sold out again so we were not able to see it again so were able to leave.
“This was a once in a life time experience and something I will never forget.”
Any girls aged between 10 and 18 interested in joining please come to the cadet centre on a Wednesday beween 7-9pm or call 07876593973.
