Work starts on Chatteris skatepark

Work has started to build a £110,000 bmx and skate park in Chatteris.

Construction was kicked off at the Wenny Recreation Ground with a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday last week. Representatives from Fenland District Council, Chatteris Town Council and WREN attended the ceremony..

The park, which is expected to take 10 weeks to create, is being largely funded by a £75,000 grant from WREN, £35,000 from the district council.

Cllr Peter Murphy, the district council’s cabinet member responsible for open spaces, said: “It has been in the pipeline for some time now and I’m sure they’ll be very pleased to see it finally taking shape. We’re very grateful for the funding from WREN, which has made it possible.”
