THE Volunteer Centre Fenland is looking for volunteers in a wide variety of areas from helping elderly people who have suffered abuse to working with young offenders.
If you have a few hours to spare, you could be helping people by acting as a buddie through to making sure someone gets to an appointment on time.
Featured are some of the organisations which are waiting for your call.
Action on Elder Abuse: This organisation has set up a group in March and is looking for volunteers countrywide to combat elder abuse and work with older people who have experienced abuse.
Mature adults are needed to work with the victims as buddies, drivers, minute takers, care home and hospital visitors, fundraisers and event organisers, and to provide peer support for those at risk or recovering from abuse. Training is given so no qualifications are necessary.
Whittlesey Community Car Scheme: Drivers are urgently needed for a valuable door-to-door service for Whittlesey and the surrounding villages for those who have difficulty accessing public transport or are unable to make an essential journey.
There is a mileage allowance to cover expenses and additional insurance cover. Volunteers need their own car and a clean driving licence.
Community Car Schemes across Fenland need your help so get in touch if you can volunteer as a driver.
HMP/YOI Littlehey: Needs volunteers to combine an interest in working one-to-one with young offenders and gardening to help prepare a show garden.
