Your help can make all the difference

VOLUNTEERING makes a big difference and the Volunteer Centre Fenland has the following opportunities.

Addaction: Would you be interested in working with people who have concerns about their drug or alcohol use? Are you over 18 and would you like to develop your understanding of substance misuse in Cambridgeshire?

If you would like the opportunity to gain accredited qualifications the volunteer training programme could be for you.

Community Mediation Service: Volunteers are needed to be trained in community mediation and then to volunteer with the service to practice their craft in serving the community.

The service has a periodic turnover of volunteer mediators and is recruiting now for new volunteers. It is keen to take on volunteer mediators from the Fenland area.

Wood Green Animal Shelter: The Shelter needs more fosterers to care for pets belonging to people fleeing domestic violence or requiring urgent hospitalisation - you provide the home and the shelter provides everything else.

Whittlesey and Murrow Children’s Centres: Offering support, outreach, community work and centre-based sessions to enable parents to enjoy their children while promoting child welfare.

The centres are looking for calm, patient and reliable people, who have use of a roadworthy car to transport small children and their parents/carers to and from children’s centre activities. These activities may be centre-based or in the community.

We need to be able to offer a friendly face, so that the children are safely and professionally transported.

This is where you come in. Can you offer this service to local families on days and times to suit you?

Would you like to give something back to enable your community to benefit?

Chatteris Youth Hope Café: There is an opportunity to work with young people aged 11-19 who ‘drop in’ to the cafe usually in small groups.

This is a safe place to sit and chat, play table top games, listen to music, sometimes to learn how to DJ. There will be a Wii in place shortly. There is no charge for anything; all is donated by people from the churches.

* If you would like to volunteer for any of these opportunities, contact Annette, Tina or Ann-Marie at the Volunteer Centre Fenland on 01945-582192 or call into the office at Suzanne Duffy Room, Rosmini Centre, Wisbech, on a Monday between 11am and noon or register on-line:

You will make a difference.
