Bin colours match cables

WITH reference to Barry Norton’s comments (Citizen, July 27 regarding recycling bins).

The bin colours have arisen for historical reasons. They don’t seem logical, but I have managed to correlate the bin colours with the new cable colours.

The brown conductor is live; the brown bin is for bio-degradable material that will make compost for growing live plants.

Blue is neutral, by which the current returns to where it came from; the blue bin is for recycling.

Green, or green/yellow is the earth conductor; the green bin is for landfill - material to be buried in the earth, bacause it can’t go anywhere else.
