Clearing up cat mess is disgusting

I WOULD like to respond to the open letter from ‘a cat lover’ (Citizen, June 29).

I do not condone the deliberate poisoning of cats, however, I do question the use of the word ‘disgusting’.

May I suggest that clearing up the mess left by cats before our grandchildren can play in our garden could be seen by some people as a more appropriate use of the word.

I am told that cats are clean animals that bury their waste, ours did. Not these ones. I have even had to clear cat mess from our shed roof.

I understand that this is the behaviour of cats that are not house-trained.
