March festive lights success

ONCE again the Christmas lights are upon us and once again we think they can’t get any better. But how wrong can we be.

The lights were better and the turnout was magnificent. We even had difficulty in getting the sleigh around to the Market Place, such was the size of the crowd.

It certainly was a great night but this would never go on without a lot of willing people in the background.

My thanks to the committee that work all through the year, the music group (Monkey’s Uncle) and MC John Whitehead and not forgetting Mick Beer, Dean and Clinton Elkin, Robert Peachey and Brian Wright who manage a wonderful job of erecting the lights. Thanks also to Sue Beer for repairing the lights that need it every year, the Lions for the Christmas sleigh, Father Christmas of course, the stewards March Rotary, Middle Level Watermen’s Club, March Lions and the ATC and Army Cadets organised by Colin Arnold, Mark Purser, the First Aiders, Seafield Logistics for the trailer, Ridgeons for the steps and the police and PCSOs who kept order.

Lastly thank you all for coming the see the lights, it would have been a great disappointment to the committee if you hadn’t turned up.
