MARCH Rotary Club would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the many members of the public who so generously responded to our request for newspapers, after last month’s epic turnout on the coldest day of the winter, amid the snow.
This obviously touched hearts, for although we were not inundated with newsprint, a very steady flow ensued the whole morning.
Good folk brought their contributions by car, bicycle, shopping trolley and even a wheel barrow!
Nine Rotarians were involved between 9am and noon at the City Road Car Park, and the money raised will be used to finance Rotary Kids Out in the summer, when it is planned to take local deprived youngsters to Sacrewell Farm near Peterborough. This includes transport, admissions and refreshments.
We are still some way short on the estimated costs, so may we request the public to do their best as every little helps. Collections are the second Saturday every month from 9am to noon.
