Paperwork done in advance

IN your article ‘Festival decision delayed for papers’ (Citizen

July 27 regarding a proposed music festival on the outskirts of March) it states “Mr Broadfield...had claimed the council is employing double standards by demanding more from him for his event than they expect from themselves when they hold events such as March Summer Festival.”

I would like to point out that while March Summer Festival is one of Fenland Council’s supported annual events, it is organised by a dedicated team of volunteers, many of them representatives of local groups and not by the council.

However, since the festival grew out of Fenland’s Colourscape Music Festival over ten years ago, we have always worked closely with the council and the emergency services in planning and running the event.

We are also required to submit all the paperwork including management plans and comprehensive risk assessments in advance of the event.

We would also welcome more people to help with organising next year’s March Summer Festival on June 8-10.
