I THINK this year’s Remembrance Parade in March was an overwhelming success.
I have received calls and emails congratulating us and I can honestly state I was very proud to be the Parade Marshal for such a well turned out and smart parade.
My personal thanks to everyone who took part or helped to organise the parade.
Many of you have helped to make this parade work for years, this was only my second as Parade Marshal.
I thought the dress, turnout and bearing of everyone was exceptional and we all deserved the appreciation from the citizens of March on conclusion of the parade.
I thought bringing all of the parade together around the War Memorial before the wreath laying worked extremely well.
I will now permanently include this within the parade format, last year I felt that the Scouts, Guides and Brownies were left out, this will not happen again.
Now that the Air Cadets are no longer allowed to carry weapons in public and provide a Guard of Honour at the War Memorial,
I thought the introduction of the Standards Bearers and Escorts worked well and I think this should now be incorporated into our parade. Let me know your views before next year.
I must apologise for starting the Armistice Parade on the 11th early.
There had been a chemical spill in March and police requested me to start the parade early in order the town centre could be free for emergency vehicles.
Could I ask you to provide rough numbers of people you had on parade, the DLL has requested this information to pass onto the Lord Lieutenant, he is especially keen to know how many Cadets, Scouts and Guides on parade.
I’ve sent this letter to formally thank everyone for making the parade a success.
