I was amazed to read the article in the Citizen regarding the installation of the Dutch artist at Wisbech Museum.
The article implies there is no real understanding of the idea behind the work. Am I the only one who does not believe that so-called installation art is not really art in the true sense. I do have a reason for making this point as I take an art group each week where we study the works of the great masters and endeavour to emulate the creative talents of these people as a starting point for our own work. We have had sessions covering drawing, water colour, portraiture, acrylic, perspective and works such as impressionism. On behalf of this group I felt compelled to make this point, as there are many interesting people creating wonderful works of art which would make better use of the facility.
