Churches Together in March raised £3178.31 during Christian Aid Week, an increase of £243 on 2012 thanks to the generosity of the people of March.
The money was raised in different ways with the bulk coming from house-to-house (£2280.26) and street and Sainsbury’s supermarket collections (£490.75). The money raised, added to monies raised during the year from Christian Aid lunches and other events, means over £6260 has been raised in the past year.
A great deal of the money has been donated to Christian Aid’s project in Sao Paulo. This is supported by the European Union which gives £3 for every £1 we raise. In the Fenland area, money raised by the March and Wisbech Christian Aid Groups, with the EU contribution, has helped some of the poorest people in Brazil to improve their working and living conditions.
I thank all those who have assisted with collections, Fenland District Council for enabling us to hold a street collection and market stall, Sainsbury’s and those who donated money.
