Reader letter: Exploitation

Following the subject of immigrant exploitation by home owners, I would like to add information on similar issues at work. Some agencies are a place of injustice and exploitation. People sign contracts with no information on working hours and wage included. They are promised one thing but get another. Most of them are temporary contracts, which mean you can be dismissed at any time. Some people are asked to work 60-70 hours per week on a permanent basis without overtime. This is why they employ 10 people who work 70 hours per week instead of employing 20 people where everyone would work normal 40 hours. Not everyone is able to bear this amount of hours. Some employers ring you the next week saying there is no work this week. This is where deprivation, street drinking and level of criminal offences increase.
