FOLLOWING Mr Carrington’s letter (Citizen December 9) I wish he would check his facts before rushing into print.
If he had come out to speak to the persons involved on November 20 he would have discovered that the five ladies and three men doing the work he speaks about were a group from Wisbech Street Pride (as shown on our high viz jackets).
We used our own vehicles to get there and our own tools to do the work. We only managed to complete a small amount in the two hours we had but felt it did tidy the area a little. It was quite cold and only one local resident stopped to speak to us or find out who we were.
The rubbish left in a large pile was collected by the council under an arrangement with us. I personally contacted both the council and Tesco’s to collect a trolley we found in the undergrowth.
If any further events are organised for this area I for one will not be available.
