THE story on the front page of the Citizen December 22 concerning the toy appeal for the less fortunate children was “heart-warming” to say the least.
Who needs Cameron’s so-called “Big Society” when things like that are going on. That’s my idea of voluntary work - not the Conservative-controlled government’s plans to lay off workers - lollipop people, librarians to name a couple and then ask volunteers to take over those jobs.
I ask you, please don’t take over jobs where people have been laid off. It’s immoral and amoral if you like.
I will always help out where the task is recognised as a voluntary job, I have done so in fact, particularly charity work.
Anyway, ‘well done’ to all those concerned with the toy appeal and I hope the children enjoy the toys.
