Tough going on Kingfisher Pool at Townsend Lakes

By Fenland Citizen Reporter

It’s been a very good year for Sam Hawks over at Buttonhole Fishery.

He regularly made the frame through the summer months but it was his dad Andy who won the trophy for the heaviest match weight, putting a fine 251lb on the scales earlier in the year.

It was down to earth at the weekend in the fishery open match for Andy, though, as he weighed in a modest 50lb 1oz, but it was still enough to top a small field on a difficult day.

A forthcoming fixture at Buttonhole is a maggot only pairs match (silvers only) on Saturday, December 22, call Chris on 07928 222462 for further details or to book in.

It was tough going on the Kingfisher Pool at the weekend at Townsend Lakes, although winner Andy Rose put a respectable 42lb 15oz to the scales fishing the long pole with pellet. Runner-up was the consistent Colin Begbie on 13lb 10oz, then came Martin Sheldrake with 13lb 3oz.
