Andy Adams continued his fine run of recent results when fishing the Townsend Lakes open match on the Kingfisher Pool, writes Ken Wade.

Some big weights are often taken here, but it’s a pool you have to work out and it’s not just a case of turning up and expecting to catch.

Adams drew peg 12 on the day and caught a net of skimmers with the odd bonus carp on the long pole with pellet to record a level 75lb.

Ricky James was second with 70lb 5oz, and Nigel Wright, third, with 59lb 5oz from peg two.

Metal Box fished their latest match at Kingsland Fishery at Turves and top rod with an impressive 121lb 3oz was Mick Raby.

Runner-up was Tony Campion with 95lb 10oz, followed by Richard Morris on 69lb 6oz and Barry Gibson with 60lb 6oz.

Fenland Rods were back at Decoy Lakes at the weekend to fish the annual club pairs on Cedar Lake.

Unfortunately for the field, two of the club’s top rods were pulled out of the hat as partners and with Mac Campbell, on corner peg 13, and Kev Lee, on peg 18, it was always going to be a tall order to knock them off the top spot.

The match was decided on section points and Campbell came second in his section with 81lb 15oz.

Dave Garner topped the section with 92lb 1oz, while Lee once again showed his mastery of cat meat, fishing close in, with a fine 142lb 6oz to the scales to win his section and wrap up the event with a magnificent three-point score.

Bob Allan and Dick Warrener came in second with six points to beat Les Bedford and John Garner, also on six points, on weight.

On Sunday, the club will be fishing the Snake Lake at Headfen, Ely.

Spratts AC were at Decoy Lakes for their club match which saw Terry Tribe win on Yew Pool with 128lb 14oz.

Trevor Cousins was second with 115lb 4oz, while Brad Oughton was third with 73lb 12oz.

There was a good turnout for the latest £1,000 qualifier open at Rookery Waters, fished on the Magpie Pool.

Richard Bond topped a strong field from peg 25 with 119lb 8oz, ahead of Tony Dawson (105lb) and Steve Tyler (95lb).

In the Thursday £1,000 qualifier on Jay Lake, Dave Rowell won from peg 45 with 112lb 14oz, followed by Jay Richardson (95lb) and Jon Young (81lb 8oz).

Roy Whincup topped the Wednesday over 60’s match on the Magpie Pool with a great catch of 108lb 14oz, ahead of Vic German (88lb 6oz) and Steve Tyler (79lb 2oz).
