Another defeat for Wisbech St Mary but big win for March Town Reserves
Wisbech St Mary slipped to second-from-bottom in the Premier Division of the Cambs County League after a 5-0 defeat at fourth-place Great Shelford on Saturday.
Senior A outfit March Town Reserves triumphed 8-0 at home to Senior B side Swavesey Institute in the Cliff Bullen Challenge Cup, Connor Bancans notching a hat-trick and Samuel Bedwell-Byatt, Blake Powley, Harry Powely and subs Adam Mills and Liam Monaghan also on target.
Manager Kieran Daplyn said: “This was total domination from start to finish. If we’d been more clinical in the opening 25 minutes and last 20 it could and should have been double the scoreline. We probably had close to 60 shots and a lot of good chances missed.”
Wimblington enjoyed their second Senior A win of the campaign, beating West Wratting Reserves 4-0. Seb Goldspink, Alexander Knowles, Martin Porter and sub Billy Munns were the scorers.
March Town A registered their first 1B win of the season, 4-2 at home to Alconbury, Reece Thompson getting a hat-trick and Micah-Joe Baxter also on target. In the same division, Joe Stead scored for Chatteris Town Reserves in their 1-1 draw at home to Great Paxton and Benwick Athletic (Christchurch) lost 5-1 at home to Eynesbury Rovers Reserves.
Wisbech St Mary Reserves won 4-2 at home to Burwell in 2B, and in 3B early leaders Wisbech St Mary Development A drew 3-3 at Swavesey Institute Reserves.
March Academy are up to second in 4C after a 5-1 win at Outwell Swifts Reserves, Jack Conyard, Charlie Robinson, an own goal and efforts from subs Joshua Kirby and Oliver Semys doing the damage for Academy. In the same division, Wisbech St Mary B beat Wimblington Reserves 2-1 at home, Joshua Ingram netting for the visitors.
Chatteris Town A beat Mepal and Sutton Reserves 5-3, Callum Wilkinson netting twice and Lewis Jarrald, Ryan Peachey and Luis Webb also scoring. Manea United Reserves beat Needingworth United Reserves 4-2, Matthew Kent notching twice and Harry Fox and Jack Rolfe also on target.
Wisbech Town Acorns lost 5-3 at home to AEK United, Derren Singleton scoring a brace for Acorns and Cameron Fox netting too.
In Division Three North of the Anglian Combination, Marshland Saints lost 2-0 at Watlington.
Leverington Sports are up to ninth in the Peterborough League Premier Division after a 5-2 home win over Ramsey Town, Kieran Hamilton scoring two and Swaley Stokes, Tyler Stokes and Callum Young also on target. There was also victory for Chatteris Town, 2-1 at Oakham United, a Dylan James double doing the damage.
Wisbech Town Reserves won in Division One for the second time this season, beating Wittering Premiair Reserves 3-0, the goals coming from Leandro Borges (2) and Harry Ashby. But Long Sutton Athletic were beaten 3-0 at Yaxley Reserves.
Sutton Bridge United remain top of Division Two, despite losing 6-4 at home to Peterborough Polonia. In the same division, Tydd lost 3-2 at home to Leverington Sports Reserves, Alex Albutt, Craig Bradshaw and Wesley Stokes scoring for Sports.
Leverington Sports A’s first win of the season in Division Three was emphatic, 8-1 at home to Elsea Park Eagles, Mariusz Kudyba netting an early double and Jack Barker, Grady Goode, Darren Hempson, Aaron Hurrell and subs Harvey Parker and Babatunde Lateef also on target. Long Sutton Athletic Reserves lost 3-0 at home to Moulton Harrox Reserves.
