Whittlesey Athletic Reserves and Levrington Sports in top six of Peterborough Premier after three games




Whittlesey Athletic Reserves are fifth in the Peterborough League Premier Division after their first three games.

Goals from Jack Carter and Metehan Eskikoy saw them win 2-0 at Leverington Sports on Tuesday evening, but they came crashing back down to earth on Saturday, losing by the same margin at home to Eye Rangers.

Leverington sit in sixth place, following up on Tuesday night’s defeat with a 2-2 draw at Stamford Belvedere on Saturday, Shane Franklin and Kai Mackie netting.

Chatteris Town have only played one game, losing 2-1 at home to Oakham United at the weekend, Sebastian Darnell scoring, but sub Harley Edwards seeing red.

After struggling in recent seasons, Long Sutton Athletic have put a strong squad together and won both their opening games and sit fifth in Division Two. They won 3-0 at Wisbech Town Reserves on Tuesday evening and 3-2 at Stamford Lions on Saturday.

Against The Fenmen, former Holbeach United forward Jordan Keeble was man of the match and scored twice with a penalty and a wonderful strike, and Corey Compton got the other. Kyle Compton and two from sub Cameron Lee did the damage against The Lions, including a fantastic free kick from Lee. Kieran McConnell was named man of the match.

Wisbech Reserves are down in 12th, following up Tuesday night’s defeat with a 5-3 loss at Netherton United Reserves, where a sloppy start saw them five down after an hour before Harry Ashby used his pace to score twice, and Antonio Monteiro was also on target with a beautiful volley. Rob Breide was man of the match in both games.

Sutton Bridge United started their Division Two campaign with a 1-1 draw at Netherton United A on Saturday, Alex Clements-Limb scoring. Tydd lost 2-1 at home to Sawtry Reserves, Matthew Cousins scoring, and Leverington Sports Reserves lost 3-1 at home to Kings Cliffe, Alex Albutt on target.

Whittlesey Athletic Development went down 3-1 at Park Farm Pumas Reserves, Cameron Stent getting their only goal.

Long Sutton Athletic Reserves drew 4-4 at home to Uppingham Town Reserves in Division Three.

In the Anglian Combination Division Two, Marshland Saints top the table after two games, thrashing visitors East Harling 10-1 on Saturday. David Abbott scored four, and there were also goals for Kieran Bruce, Jack Cropley, Eddie McGahren, Callum Rogers, Dylan Rust and sub Charlie Dungey.

The Cambs County League kicks off on Tuesday evening.
