Wisbech Men 6 Harleston 1

Sam Blunt broke the deadlock with a fine drag flick against bottom-of-the-table Harleston on Saturday.

Will Denny and Dan Martell also scored. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Blunt, Denny and a Martell penalty flick grabbing a further goal each.

Man of the match was Ben Tarratt.

Next weekend: away to Long Sutton, 1pm push back.

Wisbech Men’s 2nds 2 City of Peterborough 5ths 1

Probably the best team performance this year brought a win.

Peterborough took the lead but Wisbech responded with two goals from Dom Stannard.

MoM: Jonny Garner.

Next weekend: home to Long Sutton Men’s 2nds, 2.30.

Wisbech Men’s 3rds 2 Bourne Deeping 3rds 2

A scrambled short corner by Dom Garford gave Wisbech the lead just before half- time.

Wisbech came out strongly with a great reverse stick goal from James Williams. Bourne put great pressure on and a last minute penalty flick which was narrowly missed by keeper Kev Shippey left the game drawn.

MoM: Nick Overland.

Next weekend: away to City of Peterborough Men’s 7ths, 4pm.

Long Sutton 3rds 3 Wisbech Men’s 4ths 0

Matt Portass, Sully and Josh Baker netted for the hosts, whose MoM was Ed Lanning.

Next weekend Wisbech are home to Alford & District, 1pm push back.

Wisbech Ladies 4 Blueharts 1

Wisbech started positively but only went into the half-time break 1-0. Laura Overland grabbed her goal with a penalty corner strike.

The ladies saw more success in the second half with Leanne Williamson finishing a penalty corner move, perfectly set up by Overland; a reverse stick strike in open play; and just minutes later Katie Rodger fired into the left top corner.

A late defensive error gave Blueharts a consolation goal.

The ladies play in the East Indoor Competition at UEA next weekend and therefore their game against Saffron Walden will be at home at 1pm on December 12.

Wisbech Ladies 2nds 0 St Ives 11

The opposition were relegated last season from Division 1N and have been flying at the top of the table.

The hosts were 4-0 ahead at the break. PoM: Gilly Dunn and Sharon Simons.

Next weekend: away to Cambs Uni Ladies 2nds, noon.

Wisbech Ladies 3rds 1 Long Sutton 2nds 0

The goal was scored within the first 10 minutes of the game by Kate Stevenson, set up by Shelley Coleman.

Sublime second half goalkeeping from Long Sutton left the scoreline stable.

Sutton PoM: Izzy Oldershaw Ellis.

Next week Wisbech are home to Horncastle Ladies 1sts, 11:30 push back.

Wisbech Badgers 2 Peterborough 0

By Thomas Gregory

Great play from everyone, especially man of the match Josh Bell.
