Newly-promoted Long Sutton Saturday 2nds had every right to be nervous going into this first match of the season against Grantham 2nds, being short of five regulars from last season and playing at a higher level.
However it was very much business as usual for the Paradise Field side and 20 points on the board.
Grantham batted first and with tight bowling from Jack Keeble and Ian Morris soon found themselves two men down.
The third wicket pair steadied the ship until skipper Simpson took over from Keeble at the Shadow End.
The away side struggled and eventually were all out for 75.
Morris finished with 4-35 from 12 overs and Simpson 6-21 from eight. Excellent bowling from all three bowlers used.
Andy Wright (60 years old) and Jack Keeble (15) opened the batting.
Wright, ably assisted by Keeble (17) and Ben Shore (7 not out), soon took Sutton to victory with 40 not out.
