Cambs Tucker League leaders Wisbech overpowered St Ives by 140 runs to open up a 14-point lead over Ramsey.

Wisbech won the toss on a good wicket, posted 245-7 and dismissed St Ives for 105.

Captain Alan Burton hit 110 and opened up in a 60 stand with Gary Freear (28). James Williams added 26.

Craig Johnson took 5-28 as the visitors were skittled for 105.

New signing Samuel Rippington, who attends March’s Neale-Wade College, bowled well on debut for 1-28; while Bradley Perrett took 1-28 and Kieran Haynes 2-21.

Burton commented: “It was a good comeback after last week. We had some good bowling partnerships.”

“We’ve got a tough game against Foxton in a couple of weeks but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves.”

Wisbech travel to Sawston next Saturday.
