Captain’s team takes first Tydd St Giles Ryder Cup
On Saturday Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club hosted their first Captain v Management Ryder Cup competition.
Despite the adverse weather conditions everyone enjoyed the event which was played in true Ryder Cup spirit with a fiercely competitive edge.
Both captains lost their respective matches, and the session ended with the captain’s team taking a 5-4 lead into the afternoon singles. Despite a couple of big wins for the management team - Luke Rowell winning 9&8, Daniel Newell winning 8&6 - they lost the session 9½-8½ and therefore narrowly lost 14½-12½ overall.
Club captain Neil John was pleased to have sponsored the trophy and hoped the event would become an annual one.
