‘The Thrill’ among top five featherweights with the likes of Lee Selby, Josh Warrington and Carl Frampton
The year 2018 saw unbeaten Chatteris boxer Jordan Gill step up from being one of a number of contenders in the featherweight division to becoming the Commonwealth title holder with a convincing seventh round TKO of Ryan Doyle.
With this victory last October ‘The Thrill’ Gill has now put himself into the top five featherweights in the country with the likes of Lee Selby, Josh Warrington and Carl Frampton ahead of him.
Gill said: “2019 is going to be a massive year for me.
“I expect to be fighting early in the New Year and I hope that by the end of the year I could be fighting for a European title.
“I cannot thank enough all the support that I have had this year, especially the night at The Copperbox when I won the Commonwealth title. It was a wonderful night and I hope to have many more like it in the near future.”
Gill is fresh from a visit to his former school, which he left in 2012. He returned to Cromwell Community College in Chatteris to talk to current students about how to be successful in their chosen careers, as highlighted in last week’s Fenland Citizen.
